Description

Zydip-C Lotion is a topical medication commonly used to treat various skin infections, particularly fungal skin infections that are accompanied by inflammation. It’s a combination medicine, meaning it contains more than one active ingredient.

Active Ingredients: Zydip-C Lotion typically contains:

  • Beclometasone (or Beclomethasone) Dipropionate: This is a corticosteroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (like prostaglandins) in the body that cause inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching.
  • Clotrimazole: This is an antifungal medication. It works by stopping the growth of fungi by damaging their cell membranes, thereby clearing the infection.

Uses of Zydip-C Lotion: This combination is effective for:

  • Fungal skin infections: Such as athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), ringworm (tinea corporis), jock itch (tinea cruris), vaginal thrush (though for external use), and sweat rash.
  • Corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses with suspected or confirmed secondary fungal infection: This means it’s used for skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis where there is also a fungal infection causing inflammation, redness, and itching.

How to Use Zydip-C Lotion:

  • External use only: This lotion is strictly for application on the skin.
  • Clean and dry the affected area: Before applying, ensure the skin is clean and dry.
  • Apply a thin layer: Apply a small amount of the lotion to the affected area(s) with clean and dry hands or a clean cotton swab.
  • Gently rub in: Gently massage the lotion into the skin until it is absorbed.
  • Avoid certain areas: Do not apply it to your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Dosage and Duration: Use exactly as advised by your doctor. The frequency and duration of treatment will depend on your specific condition. Do not use more often or for longer than prescribed, as prolonged use of steroids can lead to side effects.
  • Complete the course: Continue using the medicine for the entire prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve, to ensure the infection is fully cleared and to prevent recurrence.
  • Do not cover: Unless specifically instructed by your doctor, do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings (like bandages or plasters) as this can increase the absorption of the steroid and lead to more side effects.
  • Inform your doctor if no improvement: If your condition does not improve after 1-2 weeks (or as advised by your doctor), consult your doctor.

Common Side Effects: Most side effects are mild and temporary, occurring at the application site:

  • Burning sensation
  • Stinging sensation
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Dry skin
  • Tingling or pricking sensation (paresthesia)

Serious Side Effects (Seek medical attention if you experience these, especially with prolonged or extensive use):

  • Severe allergic reaction (rash, hives, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, difficulty breathing)
  • Skin thinning, easy bruising
  • Stretch marks (striae)
  • Changes in skin color
  • Acne-like eruptions
  • Increased hair growth in treated areas
  • Worsening of the infection (if it’s not fungal)
  • Systemic effects of corticosteroids with prolonged use on large areas (e.g., Cushing’s syndrome symptoms like moon face, weight gain, high blood sugar).

Important Considerations and Warnings:

  • Do not use on certain skin conditions: Zydip-C Lotion is generally not recommended for skin problems such as acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, viral infections (e.g., herpes, chickenpox), or bacterial skin infections unless specifically directed by a doctor.
  • Children: Use with caution in children, as they are more susceptible to systemic absorption of corticosteroids. Not recommended for children below 2 years of age.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor. It should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if clearly necessary, after evaluating the potential benefits against risks.
  • Underlying Conditions: Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, liver disease, glaucoma, cataracts, or other skin infections before using this lotion.
  • Drug Interactions: While topical medications have fewer systemic interactions, inform your doctor about any other topical medications you are using, especially other steroid-containing creams/ointments or antifungal creams.
  • Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene, keep the affected area clean and dry, and avoid sharing personal items like towels to prevent the spread of fungal infections.
