Description
TOPAZ TAB 50MG (Topiramate 50 mg) is an anticonvulsant used to treat epilepsy, prevent migraines, and manage Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. It reduces abnormal brain electrical activity, controlling partial and generalized seizures. In migraine prevention, it decreases headache frequency. Suitable for adults and children (as prescribed), it is taken orally, typically twice daily, with or without food. Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, and weight loss, while serious risks like kidney stones, glaucoma, or cognitive impairment require monitoring. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity or recent alcohol use. Stay hydrated to prevent kidney stones, and avoid ketogenic diets, which may increase risks. Consult a doctor for use in pregnancy, breastfeeding, or with kidney/liver issues, as it may cause birth defects. Do not stop abruptly to avoid seizure recurrence.
