TELVAS CT 80MG Tablet is a combination medication used primarily to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It contains two active ingredients:
- Telmisartan (80mg): This belongs to a class of drugs called Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs). Telmisartan works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a natural substance in the body that causes blood vessels to narrow. By blocking this action, telmisartan helps to relax and widen the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and thus lowering blood pressure.
- Chlorthalidone (12.5mg): This is a thiazide-like diuretic, often referred to as a “water pill.” Chlorthalidone works by increasing the excretion of excess water and salt from the body through urine. This reduction in fluid volume in the body helps to decrease blood pressure and can also alleviate fluid retention (edema).
The combination of these two medicines in TELVAS CT 80MG provides a dual mechanism of action, making it particularly effective for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by a single medication. By lowering blood pressure, TELVAS CT 80MG helps to reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems.
