Indications

 

Tazret Gel is used for the topical treatment of:

  • Acne vulgaris
  • Stable plaque psoriasis
  • Photoaging (skin damage from sun exposure)

 

Dosage and Administration

 

Route: Topical/Cutaneous

  • Acne and Stable Plaque Psoriasis (Adults and Children over 12 years): Apply a thin layer to the cleansed, dry affected area once daily in the evening.
  • Photoaging (Adults): Apply a thin layer to cover the entire face (including eyelids) once daily before going to bed.

Children under 12 years: The safety and effectiveness of Tazret Gel have not been established.

 

Contraindications

 

Do not use Tazret Gel if you are:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Experiencing eczema or sunburn.
  • Hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

 

Precautions

 

  • Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, mucous membranes, and abraded (broken) skin.
  • Sun Sensitivity: Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or UV light (like sunlamps) while using this gel, as it can increase your skin’s sensitivity to burning. If sun exposure is unavoidable, minimize it and use appropriate sun protection.
  • Application Limits: Do not apply to more than 10% of your body surface area.
  • Occlusive Dressings: Do not use with occlusive (airtight) dressings.
  • Hand Hygiene: Always wash your hands thoroughly after applying the gel.
  • Dosage: Do not use more than the instructed amount.
  • Women of Child-Bearing Potential: If you are able to become pregnant, you must use effective birth control measures while using Tazret Gel. A negative pregnancy test should be obtained within two weeks prior to starting treatment, and therapy should begin during a normal menstrual period.
  • Eczematous Skin: Do not use on eczematous skin, as it may cause severe irritation.
  • Photosensitizing Drugs: Use with caution if you are also taking other medications known to increase photosensitivity (e.g., thiazides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, phenothiazines, sulfonamides), as this can further increase your risk of augmented photosensitivity.

 

Interactions

 

  • Drying Products: Concomitant use with other dermatologic medications or cosmetics that have irritant or strong drying effects may increase the drying effect on the skin.
  • Photosensitizing Agents: Increased risk of photosensitivity when used with drugs known to be photosensitizers.

 

Adverse Effects

 

Common side effects of Tazarotene Topical may include:

  • Very Common (>10%): Peeling skin (desquamation), redness (erythema), burning/stinging sensation, dry skin.
  • Common (1-10%): Skin irritation (ranging from 1-22%), skin pain, itching (pruritus), irritant or contact dermatitis, acne flare-ups, photosensitivity, rash, chapped lips (cheilitis).
  • Frequency Not Defined: Worsening of psoriasis, eczema, skin inflammation, fissuring (cracking), bleeding, swelling (peripheral edema), elevated triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia).
