Description
Sartel AM 40 Tab combines telmisartan (40 mg) and amlodipine (5 mg) to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, while amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, further widens blood vessels by preventing calcium from entering smooth muscle cells. This dual mechanism effectively lowers blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney issues. Sartel AM 40 is typically taken orally once daily, with or without food, as prescribed. It’s ideal for patients whose blood pressure isn’t controlled by a single drug. Side effects may include dizziness, swelling in the ankles, or fatigue, and it can cause electrolyte imbalances like low potassium. It’s not recommended during pregnancy, as it may harm the fetus, and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor. Patients with kidney or liver issues should use it cautiously, and regular monitoring of blood pressure and kidney function is advised. Avoid alcohol, as it can worsen dizziness.
