Description
Rizora 10 Tablet is a medication used to treat acute migraine attacks in adults. It is not used for the prevention of migraines but is intended for relief during an active migraine episode.
Active Ingredient:
- Rizatriptan (10 mg) – a selective serotonin receptor agonist (triptan).
How It Works:
Rizatriptan works by stimulating serotonin receptors in the brain, leading to:
- Constriction of dilated blood vessels around the brain, which are believed to be involved in causing migraines.
- Reduction of inflammation in the brain, which also contributes to easing migraine pain and other symptoms.
Main Uses:
- Relief from acute migraine attacks.
- Alleviates symptoms such as:
- Severe headache
- Nausea
- Sensitivity to light (photophobia) and sound (phonophobia)
Administration:
- Dosage: Typically, 1 tablet is taken at the first sign of a migraine. If the migraine persists after 2 hours, another dose may be taken, but no more than 2 tablets per day should be consumed.
- It can be taken with or without food.
Important Considerations:
- Not for migraine prevention: Rizora is used only for active migraine attacks.
- Common side effects: May include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, or a feeling of tightness in the chest.
- Avoid excessive use: Using this medication too frequently can lead to medication-overuse headaches.
- Caution: It should not be used by individuals with certain heart conditions or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
