Description
Ovral L is a combined oral contraceptive pill containing Levonorgestrel and Ethinylestradiol. It is primarily used to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to block sperm, and altering the uterine lining to prevent implantation.
Main Uses:
- Contraception: Prevents unwanted pregnancy.
- Regulation of Menstrual Cycles: Helps in managing irregular periods.
- Treatment of Dysmenorrhea: Alleviates painful menstrual cramps.
How It Works:
Ovral L combines two hormones that work together to prevent the release of an egg from the ovaries, thicken cervical mucus to hinder sperm movement, and alter the uterine lining to prevent a fertilized egg from implanting.
Usage Instructions:
- Take one tablet daily at the same time each day for 21 consecutive days, followed by a 7-day break.
- Begin the next pack after the 7-day break, even if menstruation hasn’t occurred.
Precautions:
- Not recommended for women over 35 who smoke, due to increased risk of cardiovascular events.
- Consult a healthcare provider before use, especially if you have a history of blood clots, liver disease, or hormone-sensitive cancers.
- Ovral L does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs); consider using barrier protection methods for STI prevention.
