Description

Lomocycline 250 Capsule (Tetracycline Hydrochloride 250mg)

Lomocycline 250 Capsule contains 250mg of Tetracycline Hydrochloride and is manufactured by Lomus Pharmaceutical Pvt. Ltd. It is an antibiotic used to treat a wide range of infections including acne, Lyme disease, uncomplicated gonorrhea, syphilis, psittacosis, Q fever, pleural effusions, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, lymphogranuloma venereum, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, trachoma, and nongonococcal urethritis. A 500mg capsule is also available.

How to Use

Always take Lomocycline 250 Capsule on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals, with a full glass of water, and while in an upright position. If you experience gastrointestinal discomfort, you may take it with meals.

Adult Dosing:

• Susceptible Infections: 250-500 mg every 6 hours. Do not exceed 4g per day.
• Acne: 250-500 mg daily, in divided doses, for at least 3 months.
• Syphilis: 500 mg four times daily for 15 days.
• Gonorrhea: 500 mg four times daily for 7 days.
• Vibrio Cholera: 500 mg four times daily for 3 days.
• Brucellosis: 500 mg four times daily for 3 weeks, in combination with streptomycin.

Hepatic Impairment:

If you have liver problems, the maximum daily dose is 1g.

Child Dosing (Oral):

• Children under 8 years: Not recommended.
• Children over 8 years: 25–50 mg/kg/day, divided every 6 hours. Do not exceed 3g per day.

Renal Impairment:

Dosage adjustments are necessary if you have kidney problems:

• Creatinine Clearance (CrCl) 50-80 mL/min: Dose frequency every 8-12 hours.
• CrCl 10-50 mL/min: Dose frequency every 12-24 hours.
• CrCl <10 mL/min: Dose frequency every 24 hours.

Important Considerations

Do not use Lomocycline 250 Capsule if you have:

• Hypersensitivity to tetracycline or any other ingredients.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you are a child (especially under 8 years).
• If you have renal impairment.

Precautions and Warnings

Consult your doctor before taking Lomocycline 250 Capsule if you have:

• Pre-existing Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).
• Myasthenia gravis.
• Hepatic (liver) or mild to moderate renal (kidney) impairment.

While taking Lomocycline 250 Capsule:

• Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or UV light as this medication can increase photosensitivity.
• Your doctor may monitor your renal, hepatic, and hematologic function, temperature, WBC count, cultures and sensitivity, appetite, and mental status.
