Levomac
Levomac Tablet is prescribed for a range of bacterial infections, including:
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP)
- Nosocomial Pneumonia (hospital-acquired pneumonia)
- Acute Bacterial Sinusitis (Note: Fluoroquinolones like Levomac should be reserved for patients without other available treatment options for acute sinusitis)
- Acute Bacterial Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis (Note: Fluoroquinolones should be reserved for patients without other available treatment options for this condition)
- Inhalational Anthrax (post-exposure therapy)
- Skin and Skin Structure Infections (both uncomplicated and complicated)
- Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis
- Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
- Acute Pyelonephritis (kidney infection)
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections (Note: Fluoroquinolones should be reserved for patients without other available treatment options for uncomplicated UTIs)
- Plague (treatment and prophylaxis, caused by Yersinia pestis, in adults and pediatric patients aged 6 months or older)

How should you take Levomac?
Adult Dosing (Oral/Intravenous):
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia: 500 mg once daily for 7-14 days OR 750 mg once daily for 5 days.
- Nosocomial Pneumonia: 750 mg once daily for 7-14 days.
- Acute Bacterial Sinusitis: 500 mg once daily for 10-14 days OR 750 mg once daily for 5 days.
- Acute Bacterial Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis: 500 mg once daily for at least 7 days.
- Inhalational Anthrax (Post-exposure therapy): 500 mg PO once daily for 60 days, starting as soon as possible after exposure.
- Skin/Skin Structure Infections:
- Uncomplicated: 500 mg once daily for 7-10 days.
- Complicated: 750 mg once daily for 7-14 days.
- Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis: 500 mg once daily for 28 days.
- Complicated Urinary Tract Infections & Acute Pyelonephritis: 250 mg once daily for 10 days OR 750 mg once daily for 5 days.
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections: 250 mg once daily for 3 days.
- Plague: 500 mg once daily for 10-14 days.
