What is Hyofast Tablet Used For?

Hyofast Tablet helps relieve spasms and pain in different parts of your body. It’s commonly prescribed for:

• Gastrointestinal tract spasms
• Abdominal pain
• Genitourinary spasms

How to Take Hyofast Tablet

Always follow your doctor’s dosing instructions carefully.

Adult Dose

• Oral (by mouth) for Gastrointestinal/Genitourinary Spasms:
  • The typical dose is 20 mg (one 20mg tablet or two 10mg tablets) taken four times daily.
• Parenteral (Injection – IM/IV) for Gastrointestinal/Genitourinary Spasms:
  • 20 mg injected into a muscle (IM) or vein (IV).
  • This dose can be repeated after 30 minutes if needed.
  • Maximum Daily Dose: Do not take more than 100 mg in 24 hours.

Child Dose

• Oral (by mouth) for Gastrointestinal/Genitourinary Spasms:
  • For children aged 6 to 12 years: 10 mg (one 10mg tablet) taken three times daily.

Important Considerations Before Taking Hyofast

Do Not Take If You Have:

• Narrow-angle glaucoma
• Acute hemorrhage (severe bleeding)
• Paralytic ileus (bowel paralysis)
• Tachycardia (fast heart rate) due to cardiac insufficiency (weak heart)
• Myasthenia gravis (a muscle weakness disorder)

Use with Caution If You Have:

• Liver or kidney disease
• Pyloric stenosis (narrowing of the stomach outlet)
• Urinary retention or prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate)
• Psychosis or seizure disorders
• Ulcerative colitis
• Coronary artery disease, tachyarrhythmias (fast irregular heartbeats), heart failure, or hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Elderly patients, children, pregnant, or breastfeeding individuals should use this medication with caution and under medical supervision.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using Hyofast.

Drug Interactions

It’s crucial to inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking.

• Increased Sedation: Taking Hyofast with alcohol or other CNS depressants (medications that slow brain activity) can make you feel more drowsy.
• Reduced Effectiveness: The effects of Hyofast might be lessened if taken with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (e.g., donepezil, galantamine, rivastigmine, tacrine), which are used for conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.
• Potentially Fatal Interactions: The effects of Hyofast can be dangerously enhanced by other anticholinergic drugs and TCAs (tricyclic antidepressants).

Possible Side Effects

Common Side Effects:

• Flushing (skin redness), postural hypotension (dizziness upon standing), tachycardia (fast heart rate), fibrillation (irregular heart rhythm).
• Dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, memory loss.
• Dry skin, erythema (skin redness), increased sensitivity to light, rash.
• Bloatedness, constipation, dry throat, difficulty swallowing, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth.
• Dysuria (painful urination), urinary retention.
• Tremor, weakness.
• Eye-related: Impaired focusing, blurred vision, cycloplegia (eye muscle paralysis), dryness, narrow-angle glaucoma, increased eye pressure, itching, light sensitivity, pupil dilation.
• Dry nose.
• Decreased sweating, heat intolerance.
• Ophthalmic (eye) related: Drowsiness, skin inflammation, swelling, discharge, eye inflammation, increased intraocular pressure (IOP), local irritation, light sensitivity, vascular and respiratory congestion.

Potentially Fatal Side Effects (Rare but serious):

• CNS depression (severe slowing of brain activity), coma, circulatory and respiratory failure.
