What is Doverin 80 Tablet Used For?

Doverin 80 Tablet is an antispasmodic medication used to relieve pain and spasms in various conditions, including:

• Gastrointestinal tract spasm (e.g., stomach or intestinal cramps)
• Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
• Dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods)
• Biliary colics (pain associated with gallstones)
• Renal colics (pain associated with kidney stones)

How Does Doverin 80 Work?

Drotaverine, the active component, directly targets and relaxes smooth muscles throughout the body (like those in the digestive and urinary systems). It achieves this by inhibiting a specific enzyme (phosphodiesterase-IV), which helps to ease muscle spasms and the pain they cause.

Dosage Information

Adult Dose (Oral):

• As an antispasmodic: 1 to 2 tablets, 3 times daily.

Adult Dose (Injection – Administered by a healthcare professional):

• As an antispasmodic: 1 to 2 ampoules (40-80mg), administered intramuscularly (into muscle) or subcutaneously (under skin), 1-3 times daily.
• For acute stone colics: 1 or 2 ampoules (40-80mg) given by slow intravenous (into vein) injection.

Child Dose (Oral):

• Children (over 6 years): 1/2 to 1 tablet (40mg), 1-2 times daily.
• Children (1-6 years): 1/4 to 1/2 tablet (20mg), 1-2 times daily.

How to Take Doverin 80

Doverin 80 Tablet can be taken with or without food.

Important Considerations & Precautions

Do NOT use if you have:

• Severe kidney dysfunction
• Severe liver dysfunction
• Severe cardiac (heart) dysfunction
• Porphyria (a rare genetic blood disorder)

Use with Caution if you have:

• Any pre-existing kidney, liver, or heart problems (even if not severe).
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding: Always consult your doctor before using this medication.

Drug Interactions:

• Doverin 80 may reduce the effectiveness of levodopa (a medication used for Parkinson’s disease).
• Concurrent use with analgesics (pain relievers), antimuscarinics, or benzodiazepines may have an additive beneficial effect, but this should be managed by a medical professional.
