How It Works (Mechanism of Action)

Clindamycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes. This action blocks the transpeptidation or translocation reactions necessary for protein production in susceptible organisms, thereby stunting their growth and eventually leading to cell death.
