How It Works (Mechanism of Action)

 

Clindamycin works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria. It does this by reversibly binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, which blocks the transpeptidation or translocation reactions. This disruption prevents susceptible organisms from growing, effectively stunting their cell growth.
