Candid B Lotion 30ml

Candid B Lotion 30ml is a commonly used topical medication for various skin conditions, particularly those involving fungal infections with associated inflammation.

Candid B Lotion typically contains two main active ingredients:

  • Clotrimazole (1% w/v): This is an antifungal agent that works by stopping the growth of fungi. It does this by damaging the fungal cell membrane, which is essential for the fungi’s survival.
  • Beclometasone Dipropionate (0.025% w/v): This is a corticosteroid, which means it’s an anti-inflammatory agent. It reduces redness, swelling, and itching by blocking the release of certain chemicals in the skin that cause these symptoms.

Description

Uses:

Candid B Lotion is primarily used to treat:

  • Fungal skin infections with inflammation: This includes conditions like:
    • Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis): Fungal infection of the feet.
    • Jock itch (tinea cruris): Fungal infection in the groin area.
    • Ringworm of the body (tinea corporis): Fungal infection on the body.
    • Candidiasis: Yeast infections on the skin, often in moist, sweaty areas.
    • Other inflammatory skin conditions: Where a fungal component is suspected or confirmed.
  • It helps to alleviate symptoms such as itching, redness, swelling, and scaling associated with these infections.

How it works:

The combination of Clotrimazole and Beclometasone provides a dual action:

  • Clotrimazole eliminates the fungal infection.
  • Beclometasone reduces the inflammation, itching, and redness caused by the infection, providing symptomatic relief.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Candid B Lotion is for external use only.
  • Clean and dry the affected skin area thoroughly before application.
  • Apply a thin layer of the lotion to the entire affected area, usually twice daily (morning and evening), or as directed by your doctor.
  • Gently massage the lotion until it’s fully absorbed.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the lotion, unless your hands are the treated area.
  • Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings (like bandages) unless specifically advised by your doctor, as this can increase the absorption of the corticosteroid and the risk of side effects.
  • The duration of treatment should be as prescribed by your doctor, and typically not exceed 2-4 weeks. Even if symptoms improve, complete the full course of treatment to prevent recurrence.

Side Effects:

Common side effects are usually mild and may include:

  • Burning sensation at the application site
  • Itching
  • Dryness or peeling of the skin
  • Redness or rash
  • Tingling or pricking sensation (paresthesia)

More serious side effects are rare with proper topical use but can occur, especially with prolonged or excessive use, or on large skin areas:

  • Skin thinning (atrophy)
  • Discoloration of the skin (hypopigmentation)
  • Stretch marks
  • Acne
  • Increased hair growth
  • Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing) – seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
  • Systemic effects of the corticosteroid (due to absorption into the bloodstream) such as adrenal suppression, especially in children or with long-term, widespread use.

Warnings and Precautions:

  • Consult a doctor: Always use Candid B Lotion under medical supervision.
  • Not for certain conditions: Do not use on skin conditions like acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, chickenpox, herpes simplex, skin tuberculosis, or syphilitic skin ulcers.
  • Hypersensitivity: Do not use if you are allergic to Clotrimazole, Beclometasone, or any other ingredients in the lotion.
  • Eyes and mucous membranes: Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membranes. Rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs.
  • Broken or irritated skin: Avoid applying to open wounds, broken skin, or severely irritated areas unless directed by a doctor.
  • Children: Use with caution in children, especially those under 2 years of age, and only for short durations as directed by a pediatrician, due to increased risk of systemic absorption.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before using if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. The benefits versus risks should be carefully weighed.
  • Duration of use: Do not use for longer than the prescribed period or in larger amounts than recommended. If there’s no improvement after 1-2 weeks, consult your doctor.
  • Other infections: If a bacterial or viral skin infection develops or worsens during treatment, stop using the lotion and consult your doctor.
