Description

Alsartan H is a widely used combination medication for managing high blood pressure. It contains two active pharmaceutical ingredients:

How it Works (Combined Effect):

The combination of Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide provides a comprehensive approach to blood pressure control. Losartan addresses the vascular resistance by widening blood vessels, while Hydrochlorothiazide reduces the fluid volume in the body. These two mechanisms complement each other, leading to a more pronounced and effective blood pressure reduction.

Dosage and Administration:

• Alsartan H is typically taken once daily. It’s often recommended to take it in the morning to minimize the inconvenience of increased urination during the night due to the diuretic component.
• It can be taken with or without food.

  • Other blood pressure medications, particularly ACE inhibitors (like Lisinopril) and direct renin inhibitors (like Aliskiren): Co-administration is generally not recommended, especially in patients with diabetes or kidney problems, due to increased risks of hyperkalemia, hypotension, and kidney impairment.
