Admox
Admox Capsule, manufactured by Mark Ltd. in Nepal, is an antibiotic containing 500mg of Amoxicillin. It’s used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections.
Admox Capsule is prescribed for various bacterial infections, including:
- Respiratory Tract Infections: Pharyngitis, acute otitis media (ear infection), acute bacterial sinusitis, and infections of the lower respiratory tract.
- Urinary and Genital Tract Infections: Acute uncomplicated gonorrhea, chlamydial cervicitis, chlamydial urethritis, and genitourinary tract infections.
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Infections of the skin and skin structure.
- Other Infections: Endocarditis, anthrax, Lyme disease, dental abscesses, salmonellosis, and typhoid fever.

Admox Capsule can be taken with or without food. Taking it with meals may help with better absorption and reduce stomach discomfort.
Adult Dosage:
- General Susceptible Infections: 250-500 mg every 8 hours.
- Uncomplicated Gonorrhea: A single 3-gram dose, taken with probenecid.
- Dental Abscesses: A single 3-gram dose, repeated once 8 hours later.
- Uncomplicated Acute Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): A single 3-gram dose, repeated once 10-12 hours later.
- Endocarditis Prophylaxis (before dental procedures): A single 2-gram or 3-gram dose, 1 hour before the procedure.
- Severe or Recurrent Respiratory Tract Infections: 3 grams twice daily.
- H. pylori Infection: 500 mg three times daily, typically with metronidazole or clarithromycin, and a bismuth compound or an acid-reducing medication.
- Intravenous (IV) / Intramuscular (IM) for Susceptible Infections: 500 mg every 8 hours.
- Listerial Meningitis: 2 grams every 4 hours for 10-14 days, usually with other antibiotics.
Child Dosage:
- Standard Dose: 40–45 mg/kg/day, divided every 8-12 hours.
- High Dose: 80–90 mg/kg/day, with a maximum of 4 grams per day, divided every 12 hours.
- For Penicillin-Resistant S. pneumoniae Otitis Media: 150 mg/kg/day, divided every 8 hours.
Renal Impairment Dosage:
Adjustments are necessary for patients with kidney issues:
- Creatinine Clearance (CrCl) 10-30 ml/min: 250-500 mg every 12 hours.
- CrCl <10 ml/min: 250-500 mg every 24 hours.
- Patients on Hemodialysis: 250-500 mg every 24 hours, with an additional dose during and after each dialysis session.
