Description
LIPTOP 5MG is a cholesterol-lowering medication containing Atorvastatin Calcium (5mg), a member of the statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) class of drugs. It is commonly prescribed for managing high cholesterol and preventing cardiovascular complications.
Key Features:
- Lower dosage strength (5mg) – suitable for patients requiring mild cholesterol control
- Same mechanism as higher doses but with potentially fewer side effects
- First-line treatment for dyslipidemia management
Mechanism of Action:
- Competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase (the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis)

Dosage & Administration:

Special populations:
- Elderly: No dose adjustment needed
- Renal impairment: Caution advised
- Hepatic impairment: Contraindicated in active liver disease
