Zosert 100 Tablet contains Sertraline 100 mg, an antidepressant belonging to the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) class. It is commonly prescribed for depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, improving mood and emotional balance. It is usually taken once daily, with or without food.

Uses:
Zosert 100 is used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including:
- Major depressive disorder (MDD)
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Panic disorder
- Social anxiety disorder
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
Mechanism of Action:
Sertraline works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter in the brain associated with mood regulation. It blocks the reabsorption (reuptake) of serotonin into neurons, making more serotonin available to improve mood and reduce anxiety.
Dosage & Administration:
- Usually taken once daily, either in the morning or evening.
- Can be taken with or without food.
- Dosage may be adjusted by the physician depending on the condition and patient response.
- Full therapeutic effect may take 2 to 4 weeks.
Common Side Effects:
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Insomnia or drowsiness
- Sexual dysfunction
- Increased sweating
Serious (Less Common) Side Effects:
- Suicidal thoughts (especially in young adults during initial treatment)
- Serotonin syndrome (if taken with other serotonergic drugs)
- Hyponatremia (low sodium levels)
- Seizures (rare)
Precautions:
- Avoid alcohol and CNS depressants while taking Sertraline.
- Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have liver/kidney issues.
- Do not stop abruptly without medical advice—requires gradual tapering.
Drug Interactions:
- Avoid combining with MAO inhibitors, linezolid, or pimozide.
- Use caution with other serotonergic agents (e.g., SSRIs, SNRIs, triptans).
Storage:
- Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
- Keep out of reach of children.
