URIBID TAB

Uribid Tablet contains Nitrofurantoin 100 mg, an antibiotic used to treat and prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria in the urinary tract. Common side effects include nausea, stomach pain, and urine discoloration (brown/yellow, which is harmless). It should be taken as prescribed, usually with food, and not used in late pregnancy or in people with kidney issues.

Description

Uses

  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Effective against infections of the bladder, kidneys, and other parts of the urinary tract caused by susceptible bacteria.

Side Effects

Common:

Serious (Rare):

Note: Uribid may cause urine to turn dark yellow or brown, which is harmless.

Dosage & Administration

  • Take as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
  • Can be taken with or without food.
  • Avoid taking with magnesium trisilicate-containing antacids, as they may reduce absorption.

Precautions

  • Pregnancy: Not recommended during the last 2–4 weeks of pregnancy due to potential risk to the fetus.
  • Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor, as small amounts may pass into breast milk.
  • Kidney/Liver Issues: Use with caution; dosage adjustment may be necessary.
