Description
Uses:
Tranostat is an antifibrinolytic agent used to control excessive bleeding in various conditions, including:
- Heavy menstrual bleeding
- Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
- Post-operative bleeding
- Nosebleeds
- Bleeding associated with dental procedures in patients with clotting disorders
Common Side Effects:
- Muscle, bone, or joint pain
- Headache
- Back pain
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea
- Low blood pressure (hypotension)
- Sinus disorder
- Anemia (low red blood cell count)
- Allergic dermatitis
- Lightheadedness
- Thromboembolism (formation of blood clots)
Dosage:
- The typical dosage is 500 mg taken two to three times daily, depending on the condition being treated.
- For heavy menstrual bleeding, it is usually taken for up to 5 days.
