Topoz
Topoz 40 Tablet (Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate 40mg) is an acid-reducing medication manufactured by Panas Pharmaceutical Pvt. Ltd. in Nepal. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It works by blocking the final step of acid production in the stomach, which helps to reduce both basal and stimulated acid secretion.
Uses
Topoz 40 is prescribed for various conditions caused by excessive stomach acid, including:
- Peptic ulcer disease (duodenal and gastric ulcers)
- H. pylori infection (often used in combination with antibiotics)
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including erosive esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition causing severe acid overproduction
- Oesophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus)
- Acid-related dyspepsia (indigestion)
- NSAID-associated ulceration (ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
- Ulcers resistant to H2 receptor antagonists (another class of acid-reducing drugs)
- Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding from stress
- Prophylaxis for acid aspiration syndrome during the induction of anesthesia

Contraindications:
- Do not use if you are taking rilpivirine, atazanavir, or nelfinavir.
- Not recommended during lactation.
Precautions:
- Your doctor should rule out gastric malignancy before you start treatment.
- Consider zinc supplementation during IV therapy if you are prone to zinc deficiency.
- Use with caution during pregnancy.
Monitoring Parameters:
- Your magnesium levels should be monitored before starting and periodically during prolonged use.

- Erythema multiforme
Interactions:
- Increased risk: Digoxin-induced cardiotoxic effects, hypomagnesemia with diuretics.
- May increase: INR and prothrombin time of warfarin, serum concentration of methotrexate and saquinavir.
- Delayed absorption and decreased bioavailability: With sucralfate.
- Decreased absorption: Ketoconazole, itraconazole.
- Potentially Fatal: May decrease serum levels and pharmacological effects of rilpivirine, atazanavir, and nelfinavir.
