What is Siofin Cream Used For?

Siofin Cream is primarily used to treat:

• Acne vulgaris
• Skin infections
• Staphylococcal infections

How to Use Siofin Cream

Adults and Children:

Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area 3-4 times daily until your condition improves. If you’re using a gauze dressing, you can reduce the application frequency to 1-2 times daily.

Important Considerations and Warnings

• Do not use Siofin Cream if you have:
  • Viral, tuberculosis, or fungal skin infections.
  • A known allergy to any of its ingredients.
• Avoid long-term continuous use, especially on:
  • Your face
  • Skin folds (flexures and intertrigenous areas)
  • Infants and children (they are more susceptible to side effects).
• Be careful when applying near the eyes as it may cause glaucoma if it gets into the eye.
• Pregnancy and Lactation: Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Potential Side Effects

Like other topical steroids, prolonged or intensive use of Siofin Cream may lead to:

• Local skin changes: thinning, stretch marks (striae), and visible superficial blood vessels, especially with occlusive dressings or in skin folds.
• Systemic absorption: In rare cases of prolonged or extensive use (particularly in infants and children, or with napkin use), enough medicine can be absorbed to affect the adrenal glands.

How Siofin Cream Works

Fusidic acid works by stopping bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply, effectively inhibiting their synthesis.

Drug Interactions

• Increased effect: Siofin Cream may have a stronger effect when used with anti-staphylococcal penicillin.
• Decreased effect: It may be less effective when used with ciprofloxacin.
