Description
Composition:
- Sertraline (50mg) – SSRI Antidepressant
- Hydroxyzine (25mg) – Anxiolytic/Antihistamine
Category:
- Combination Psychotropic (Antidepressant + Anxiolytic)
Mechanism of Action:

Sertraline:
- Selective serotonin reuptake inhibition → ↑ synaptic 5-HT
- Delayed anxiolytic effect (4-6 weeks)

Hydroxyzine:
- H1 receptor antagonism → immediate sedation
- 5-HT2A antagonism → adjunct anxiolysis
Therapeutic Uses:
✔ Depression with comorbid anxiety (rapid symptom control)
✔ Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
✔ Panic attacks (acute + prophylactic management)
✔ Treatment-resistant anxiety disorders
Dosage:
- 1 tablet once/twice daily (AM/PM dosing)
- Maximum: 2 tablets/day (100mg sertraline + 50mg hydroxyzine)
- Elderly: Half-dose recommended
