Description
Qutipin-100 Tab contains quetiapine (100 mg), an atypical antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder as an adjunct therapy. It works by balancing dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain, which helps reduce hallucinations, stabilize mood, and improve thought processes. Qutipin is typically taken orally, often at bedtime due to its sedative effects, with or without food, as prescribed by a doctor. It’s effective in managing manic or depressive episodes in bipolar disorder and reducing psychotic symptoms in schizophrenia. Treatment duration varies based on the condition and response. Common side effects include drowsiness, weight gain, dry mouth, and dizziness, which may decrease over time. It can also increase the risk of metabolic issues like high blood sugar or cholesterol, so regular monitoring is advised. Elderly patients with dementia should avoid it due to an increased risk of stroke. It’s not recommended during pregnancy unless benefits outweigh risks, and abrupt discontinuation can cause withdrawal symptoms like insomnia or nausea. Patients with heart or liver issues should use it cautiously.
