Pangard DR Tablet, manufactured by Universal Formulation, contains Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate 40 mg. This medication is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce the amount of acid produced in your stomach.

Uses

 

Pangard DR Tablet is prescribed for various conditions related to excess stomach acid, including:

  • Peptic ulcer disease
  • H. pylori infection
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
  • Oesophagitis
  • Acid-related dyspepsia
  • NSAID-associated ulceration
  • Ulcers resistant to H2 receptor antagonists
  • Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding from stress

Description

Pangard DR Tablet is not recommended if you are:

  • Concomitantly using rilpivirine, atazanavir, or nelfinavir.
  • Lactating.

 

Precautions

 

  • Gastric malignancy should be ruled out before starting treatment.
  • Consider zinc supplementation during IV therapy if you are prone to zinc deficiency.
  • Pregnancy: Use with caution.
  • Monitoring: Magnesium levels should be monitored before initiation and periodically during prolonged use.
  • Lactation: It’s not known if pantoprazole is distributed into breast milk; therefore, it’s not recommended during lactation.

 

Interactions

 

Pangard DR may interact with other medications, potentially leading to:

  • Increased risk of digoxin-induced cardiotoxic effects.
  • Increased risk of hypomagnesaemia with diuretics.
  • May increase INR and prothrombin time of warfarin.
  • May increase serum concentration of methotrexate and saquinavir.
  • Delayed absorption and decreased bioavailability with sucralfate.
  • Decreased absorption of ketoconazole and itraconazole.
  • Potentially Fatal: May decrease serum levels and pharmacological effects of rilpivirine, atazanavir, and nelfinavir.
