Domperidone SR:
- Peripheral dopamine D2 receptor antagonist
- Enhances gastric motility and accelerates emptying
- Increases lower esophageal sphincter pressure
- Sustained-release formulation maintains effect for 12+ hours
Therapeutic Uses:

GERD (Grade B/C esophagitis)

Dyspepsia with delayed gastric emptying

Refractory heartburn

Nausea/vomiting associated with gastroparesis

Prophylaxis for NSAID-induced ulcers
Dosage & Administration:
- Standard Dose: 1 capsule daily before breakfast
- Severe Cases: May increase to twice daily (under medical supervision)
- Duration:
- GERD: 4-8 weeks
- Maintenance: As needed
- Swallow whole – do not crush/chew (SR formulation)
Advantages Over Conventional Formulations:
- Single-dose convenience (vs separate PPI+domperidone)
- SR domperidone provides sustained prokinetic effect

Side Effects:
Pantoprazole-related:
- Headache (most common)
- Vitamin B12 deficiency (long-term use)
