Description
OXOP Eye Drops are a prescription ophthalmic solution containing Ofloxacin 0.3% w/v, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic.
Composition
- Active Ingredient: Ofloxacin 0.3% w/v
- Formulation: Sterile aqueous solution for topical ophthalmic use
Main Uses
OXOP Eye Drops are indicated for the treatment of bacterial eye infections, including:
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye): Inflammation of the conjunctiva caused by bacteria
- Keratitis: Infection of the cornea
- Keratoconjunctivitis: Combined inflammation of the cornea and conjunctiva
These conditions often present with redness, itching, discharge, and eye discomfort.
Mechanism of Action
Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication and bacterial cell division. This prevents the spread of infection.
Usage Instructions
- Use as prescribed by your ophthalmologist
- Wash hands before application
- Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and apply the recommended number of drops
- Close eyes gently for 2–3 minutes
- Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface to avoid contamination
Note: Remove soft contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to Ofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones
- Avoid using contact lenses during treatment
- Consult your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding
- Temporary blurred vision may occur; do not drive until vision clears
Side Effects
May include:
- Mild eye irritation or discomfort
- Redness or watery eyes
- Blurred vision
- Seek medical advice if side effects persist or worsen.
Storage
- Store at room temperature, away from light and moisture
- Keep the bottle tightly closed
- Discard any unused solution 4 weeks after opening
