Description
Ocuvir 200mg Tab contains acyclovir, an antiviral used to treat herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections, including cold sores, genital herpes, and shingles. It works by inhibiting viral DNA replication, stopping the virus from multiplying and reducing symptom severity and duration. Taken orally, typically 2–5 times daily as prescribed, it’s effective for adults and children with HSV outbreaks or weakened immunity. It doesn’t cure herpes but helps manage outbreaks and prevent recurrence. Side effects may include nausea, headache, or dizziness, with rare risks of kidney issues if dehydrated. It’s not recommended for those allergic to acyclovir or with severe kidney disease. Stay hydrated during use, and avoid sexual contact during outbreaks to prevent transmission. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor, as safety isn’t fully established. Regular monitoring is advised for long-term use, especially in immunocompromised patients.
