Nupenta Tablet is a medication manufactured by Macleods Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. It contains Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate (40mg), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid.

Uses

 

Nupenta Tablet is prescribed for various acid-related conditions, including:

  • Peptic ulcer disease
  • H. pylori infection
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
  • Oesophagitis
  • Acid-related dyspepsia
  • NSAID-associated ulceration
  • Ulcers resistant to H2 receptor antagonists
  • Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding from stress
  • Prophylaxis for acid aspiration syndrome during induction of anesthesia

Description

Do not use Nupenta Tablet if you are:

  • Using rilpivirine, atazanavir, or nelfinavir concomitantly.
  • Lactating.

 

Precautions

 

  • Gastric malignancy should be ruled out before starting treatment.
  • Consider zinc supplementation during IV therapy for patients prone to zinc deficiency.
  • Pregnancy: Use with caution.
  • Monitoring: Monitor magnesium levels before starting and periodically during prolonged use.
  • Lactation: It’s unknown if pantoprazole passes into breast milk; therefore, it’s not recommended during lactation.

 

Interactions

 

Nupenta Tablet can interact with other medications, potentially leading to:

  • Increased risk of digoxin-induced cardiotoxic effects.
  • Increased risk of hypomagnesaemia with diuretics.
  • Increased INR and prothrombin time with warfarin.
  • Increased serum concentration of methotrexate and saquinavir.
  • Delayed absorption and decreased bioavailability with sucralfate.
  • Decreased absorption of ketoconazole and itraconazole.
  • Potentially Fatal: May decrease serum levels and pharmacological effects of rilpivirine, atazanavir, and nelfinavir.
