Propranolol belongs to a class of drugs called beta-blockers. It works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in the body, such as adrenaline, which affect the heart and blood vessels. This action helps to slow the heart rate, reduce the force of heart contractions, and relax blood vessels.

Uses of Minil 20mg Tablet: Minil 20mg is prescribed for various conditions, including:

• High Blood Pressure (Hypertension): To lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of related complications like strokes and heart attacks.
• Angina Pectoris (Chest Pain): To prevent and reduce the severity and frequency of chest pain by decreasing the heart’s workload.
• Heart Rhythm Disorders (Arrhythmias): To regulate irregular heartbeats.
• Migraine Prevention: To prevent migraine headaches from occurring (it does not treat an acute migraine attack).
• Essential Tremor: To reduce involuntary shaking.
• Anxiety: To manage physical symptoms of anxiety like rapid heart rate, sweating, and trembling.
• Post-Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack): To protect the heart and reduce the risk of further heart problems after a heart attack.
• Certain Thyroid Conditions (Thyrotoxicosis): To manage symptoms associated with an overactive thyroid.
• Pheochromocytoma: As an adjunct therapy to manage high blood pressure caused by this rare adrenal gland tumor.

Common Side Effects: As with any medication, Minil 20mg can cause side effects. Common ones include:

Important Considerations and Warnings:

• Do NOT Stop Abruptly: It is extremely important not to stop taking Minil 20mg suddenly without consulting your doctor. Abrupt discontinuation can lead to severe and potentially life-threatening conditions like a sudden increase in blood pressure, worsening angina, or even a heart attack. Your doctor will likely advise a gradual reduction in dosage if the medication needs to be stopped.

• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Minil 20mg is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Always consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
• Driving and Operating Machinery: This medication can cause dizziness, drowsiness, or fatigue. Exercise caution when driving or performing activities requiring mental alertness until you know how it affects you.
