Mechanism of Action:
Lansoprazole is a substituted benzimidazole, classified as a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI). It works by blocking the final step of acid secretion in the stomach by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system within the gastric parietal cells. This effectively inhibits both basal and stimulated acid secretion.
