Description
Halobet-S 10gm is a combination topical medication containing Halobetasol, a corticosteroid, and Salicylic Acid, a keratolytic agent, used to treat chronic inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Halobetasol reduces inflammation, itching, and redness by suppressing the immune response and inhibiting inflammatory mediators. Salicylic Acid softens and removes scaly skin, enhancing the penetration of Halobetasol for better efficacy. The cream is applied thinly to the affected area, typically once or twice daily, for a limited period as prescribed, to avoid side effects like skin thinning or irritation. It is not suitable for viral, fungal, or bacterial infections unless combined with appropriate therapy. Prolonged use may lead to systemic absorption, increasing risks of adrenal suppression or skin atrophy. Side effects include burning, stinging, or dryness at the application site, which are usually temporary. Patients should follow the prescribed duration strictly.
