Description

Esam 5mg Tab contains S-Amlodipine 5mg as its active ingredient. S-Amlodipine is a specific isomer of Amlodipine, a common medication.

It belongs to a class of drugs called Calcium Channel Blockers (CCBs).

Uses of Esam 5mg Tab:

• High Blood Pressure (Hypertension): It helps to lower high blood pressure by relaxing and widening blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow. This reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.
• Angina (Heart-related Chest Pain): It’s used to prevent and manage chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart, by improving blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle.

How it works: S-Amlodipine works by blocking the entry of calcium into the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels. This causes the blood vessels to relax and widen, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow to the heart.

Common Side Effects:

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Ankle swelling (edema)
• Fatigue or tiredness
• Flushing (a sensation of warmth or redness)
• Nausea, abdominal pain
• Palpitations (awareness of your heartbeat)

Important Considerations:

• Do not stop taking suddenly: Abruptly stopping Esam 5mg can cause your blood pressure to rise, increasing your risk of heart attack or stroke. Always follow your doctor’s instructions for dosage and discontinuation.
• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor. It’s generally advised to use with caution, and only if clearly necessary, as its safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not fully established.
• Alcohol: Avoid alcohol as it can increase drowsiness and lower blood pressure further.
