EMOSIL CREAM-30G is an emollient cream primarily used to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations.
Uses:
- Dry skin
- Acne
- Chapped lips
- Diaper rash
- Cold sores
- Other minor skin irritations
- Used as a moisturizer, it helps soften and moisturize the skin, decreasing itching and flaking.
Ingredients: Emosil Cream is generally an emollient cream. The specific composition often includes:
- Propylene Glycol (e.g., 1.5% w/w)
- Other common emollient ingredients found in similar products include urea, glycerin, lecithin, dimethicone, squalene, stearic acid, glycol stearate, glyceryl stearate, and cetyl alcohol. It often works by forming an oily layer on the skin that traps water.
How it works: Emollients like Emosil Cream create an oily layer on the top of the skin, which helps to trap water in the skin, thereby moisturizing it and preventing water loss from the outer layer. Some ingredients, like urea, also act as humectants, drawing water into the outer layer of the skin, and can help shed dead skin cells.
Side Effects: Most emollients can be used safely with minimal to no side effects. However, some individuals may experience:
- Burning
- Stinging
- Redness
- Irritation
- Allergic reactions (rare but possible, including rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing).
- Unusual changes in the skin (e.g., turning white/soft/soggy from too much wetness).
- Signs of skin infection.
Precautions:
- Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
- Avoid applying to deep wounds, open sores, or areas with significant swelling, warmth, redness, oozing, or bleeding, unless directed by a doctor.
- Avoid contact with eyes, inside the mouth/nose, and the vaginal/groin area, unless specifically instructed.
- Some ingredients may increase sensitivity to the sun. Use sunscreen and protective clothing if needed.
- If your skin is prone to acne, look for “non-comedogenic” on the label.
- Consult a doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor.
