Eltocin
Eltocin Syrup, manufactured by Ipca Laboratories Ltd., is a 125mg oral solution containing the antibiotic Erythromycin. It is used to treat a wide range of susceptible bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, sinusitis, bronchitis), enteritis, pertussis (whooping cough), trench fever, chancroid, chlamydial infections, diphtheria, Legionnaire’s disease, acne, rheumatic fever, and neonatal conjunctivitis.

Eltocin Syrup should be taken on an empty stomach, ideally at least half an hour, and preferably two hours, before meals for best absorption.
Reconstitution (for oral suspension): Add 77 mL of water and shake vigorously to make 100 mL of suspension.
Adult Dosage:
- General Dosage: Usually 250 mg every 6 hours, or 500 mg every 12 hours. The dose may be increased up to 4 g/day depending on the severity of the infection.
- Upper and Lower Respiratory Tract Infections (mild to moderate severity): 250 to 500 mg four times a day for 10 days.
- Respiratory Tract Infections due to Mycoplasma pneumoniae: 500 mg every 6 hours for 5 to 10 days; severe infections may be treated for up to 3 weeks.
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections (mild to moderate severity): 250 to 500 mg four times a day for 10 days.
- Acute Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases (PID) due to Neisseria gonorrhoeae: 500 mg four times a day for 10 to 14 days.
