Description
Uses
ECT 20 is prescribed for:
- Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Panic Disorder
- Social Anxiety Disorder
Dosage
- Initial Dose: Typically, 10 mg once daily.
- Maintenance Dose: May be increased to 20 mg daily, depending on individual response.
- Administration: Can be taken with or without food.
- Consistency: Take at the same time each day to maintain stable blood levels.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
- Nausea
- Sleepiness or drowsiness
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Increased sweating
- Fatigue
- Sexual dysfunction (e.g., decreased libido, erectile dysfunction)
Serious side effects are rare but may include suicidal thoughts, serotonin syndrome, or allergic reactions.
Precautions
- Allergy: Avoid if allergic to escitalopram or any of its components.
- Medical History: Inform your doctor if you have a history of seizures, liver or kidney disease, or bleeding disorders.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Discontinuation: Do not stop taking ECT 20 suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may cause withdrawal symptoms.
