Deriva MS Gel (Adapalene 0.1% Topical)

Indications:

• Acne Vulgaris
• Keratosis Pilaris

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: Apply a small (pea-sized) amount sparingly to the entire affected face once daily at night, after cleansing with a non-medicated cleanser.
• Children: Consult a healthcare professional for appropriate dosing.
• Renal Impairment: No specific dose adjustment information provided.

Method of Administration: For topical use only. Avoid contact with eyes, lips, nostrils, and mucous membranes. Do not apply to cuts, abrasions, scaly or flaky skin, or sunburned skin.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to adapalene or any component of the formulation.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with sunburn or eczema.
• Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or UV irradiation during treatment.

Adverse Effects:

• Common (>10%): Dryness (1-45%), scaling (1-44%), burning/stinging (4-29%), erythema (0.5-26%).
• Less Common (1-10%): Skin discomfort (6%), pruritus (2%), desquamation (2%), sunburn (1%).
• Rare (<1%): Acne flare, conjunctivitis, contact dermatitis, eczema, eyelid edema, rash, skin discoloration.

Mechanism of Action: Adapalene selectively binds to specific retinoic acid nuclear receptors. This binding normalizes the differentiation of follicular epithelial cells, leading to a reduction in microcomedone formation.
