Description

Cresar-H is a medication used primarily for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It’s a combination medicine that contains two active ingredients:

• Telmisartan: This belongs to a class of drugs called Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs). It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and thus lowering blood pressure.
• Hydrochlorothiazide: This is a thiazide diuretic, often called a “water pill.” It works by increasing urine output, which helps to remove excess salt and water from the body, further reducing blood pressure and preventing fluid retention (oedema).

It’s important to take it at the same time each day and to continue taking it as prescribed, even if you feel better, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms. Because it contains a diuretic, it’s often advised to avoid taking it within four hours of going to bed to prevent frequent urination during the night.

• Potassium Supplements: Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless advised by your doctor, as Cresar-H can affect potassium levels.
