CRESAR AM

Description

CRESAR AM is a combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains two active ingredients:

1. Telmisartan: This is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the action of a natural substance in the body (angiotensin II) that narrows blood vessels. By doing so, it relaxes blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and thus lowering blood pressure.
2. Amlodipine: This is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels. This also helps to improve blood flow and lower blood pressure. Amlodipine can also be used to treat certain types of chest pain (angina).

How it works together: The combination of Telmisartan and Amlodipine provides a dual mechanism of action, targeting different pathways to relax blood vessels and improve blood flow. This often results in more effective blood pressure control than either medication used alone.

Uses:

Common Side Effects:

• Dizziness

• Back pain
• Abdominal pain, nausea, or diarrhea

Important Considerations and Warnings:

• Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly: Abruptly stopping Cresar AM can cause your blood pressure to increase, raising your risk of heart attack or stroke. Always follow your doctor’s instructions for dosage and discontinuation.
• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Cresar AM is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can harm the developing baby. It may also pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
• Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol, as it can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect and increase side effects like dizziness and drowsiness.
• Kidney and Liver Problems: Use with caution if you have kidney or liver disease. Your doctor may need to adjust the dosage or monitor your condition closely.
• Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension): It can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, especially when standing up. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
• Hyperkalemia (High Potassium Levels): Telmisartan can sometimes increase potassium levels in the blood. Your doctor may monitor your potassium levels. Avoid potassium supplements unless advised by your doctor.
• Driving and Operating Machinery: Due to potential dizziness or sleepiness, avoid these activities until you know how the medication affects you.
• Other Medications: Inform your doctor about all other medications, supplements, or herbal preparations you are taking, as there can be interactions.
• Not a cure: Cresar AM helps control high blood pressure but does not cure it. You will likely need to take it long-term as prescribed by your doctor to keep your blood pressure managed and reduce the risk of complications.
