What Cosy 10 Tablet is Used For:

• Nausea and Vomiting: To relieve feelings of sickness and prevent throwing up.
• Gastroparesis: A condition where the stomach empties too slowly.
• Non-ulcer Dyspepsia: Persistent indigestion or upset stomach not caused by ulcers.

Dosage Information

Adult Dosing (Oral)

• Nausea and Vomiting: 10-20 mg, taken 4-8 hourly. Do not exceed 80 mg per day.
• Non-ulcer Dyspepsia: 10 mg, 3-4 times daily. May be increased up to 20 mg, 3-4 times daily. The last dose should be taken at bedtime.
• Migraine: 20 mg, taken every 4 hours. Do not exceed 4 doses within a 24-hour period.

Adult Dosing (Rectal)

• Nausea and Vomiting: 60 mg twice daily.

Child Dosing

• Oral: 0.2 – 0.4 mg/kg, taken every 4-8 hours daily.
• Rectal:
  • Children <12 years and >15 kg: 30 mg twice daily.
  • Children >12 years and >35 kg: 60 mg twice daily.

Special Populations

• Elderly: No dosage adjustment is typically needed.
• Hepatic Impairment (Liver Problems): No dosage adjustment is typically needed.
• Renal Impairment (Kidney Problems):
  • Mild to moderate: No dosage adjustment is typically needed.
  • Severe: Dosing should be reduced to 1-2 times daily with prolonged treatment.

When Not to Take (Contraindications)

Do not take Cosy 10 Tablet if you have:

• Hypersensitivity (allergy) to domperidone or any of its ingredients.
• Gastrointestinal hemorrhage, obstruction, or perforation (bleeding, blockage, or a hole in your digestive tract).
• A prolactin-releasing pituitary hormone (a type of tumor).
• It is not recommended for chronic administration or routine prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting.

Warnings & Precautions

• Phaeochromocytoma: Use with caution if you have this rare tumor of the adrenal gland.
• Children under 2 years old: Use with extreme caution due to increased risks.

Potential Drug Interactions

• Bromocriptine: May reduce the effect of bromocriptine (used for high prolactin levels).
• Opioid analgesics and Antimuscarinics: These medications may reduce the prokinetic (stomach-emptying) effect of Cosy 10.
• Potentially Fatal Interactions:
  • Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin, ritonavir): These medications can significantly increase domperidone levels in your blood, which can lead to a dangerously increased risk of QT prolongation (a heart rhythm problem). Concurrent use should be avoided.

Possible Side Effects

Like all medications, Cosy 10 Tablet can cause side effects. Many are mild, but some can be serious.

Common Side Effects:

• Drowsiness
• Extrapyramidal reactions (involuntary movements like tremor, rigidity)
