Acno T Cream (Tretinoin Topical) – Product Information

Indications: Acno T Cream is used for the topical treatment of:

  • Acne vulgaris
  • Mottled hyperpigmentation
  • Roughness and fine wrinkling of photodamaged skin

Dosage and Administration:

Adults:

  • Acne Vulgaris: Apply a thin layer to the affected area once daily, usually at bedtime. The skin should be cleansed to remove excessive oiliness and thoroughly dried before application. Therapeutic response may be observed after 6-8 weeks of consistent use.
  • Mottled Hyperpigmentation, Roughness, and Fine Wrinkling of Photodamaged Skin: Apply a pea-sized amount to the entire face once daily at night. Therapeutic response may be observed after 6 months of consistent use.

Children:

  • Acne Vulgaris:
    • Under 12 years of age: Safety and efficacy have not been established.
    • Over 12 years of age: Apply once daily, usually at bedtime, onto the affected area.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to retinoids.
  • Application to eczematous, sunburned, or abraded skin.

Precautions:

  • Increased Photosensitivity: Increased photosensitivity may occur when used with other photosensitizing medications such as thiazides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, phenothiazines, and sulfonamides.
  • Potentially Fatal: Increased risk of intracranial pressure with tetracyclines.

  • Skin irritation, stinging on application
  • Edema, blistering, crusting of the skin
  • Erythema (redness), scaling

Mechanism of Action: Tretinoin, a trans-retinoic acid form of Vitamin A, stimulates mitosis and turnover of follicular epithelial cells, reducing their cohesiveness. This action facilitates the extrusion of existing comedones and prevents the formation of new ones. It also exhibits a thinning effect on the stratum corneum. In acute promyelocytic leukemia, tretinoin induces cellular differentiation and decreases proliferation.
