Important Contraindications
- Do not use Aclene Gel if you have a hypersensitivity to Adapalene or any of its components.
Precautions
Exercise caution and consult your doctor if you have:
- Sunburn
- Eczema
- Pregnancy or lactation: Use with caution. Excretion in milk is unknown.
- Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or UV irradiation while using this product.
- Keep Aclene Gel away from the eyes, lips, nostrils, and mucous membranes.
- Do not apply to cuts, abrasions, scaly or flaky skin, or sunburned patches.
- Use with caution if you are also using products containing sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid, as increased irritation may occur.
Potential Interactions
Increased skin irritation may occur if Aclene Gel is used with:
- Medicated or abrasive soaps
- Products with a pronounced drying effect
- Products containing alcohol or astringents
Possible Adverse Effects
Common side effects (occurring in more than 10% of users) include:
- Dryness (1-45%)
- Scaling (1-44%)
- Burning/stinging (4-29%)
- Erythema (redness) (0.5-26%)
Less common side effects (1-10%) include:
- Skin discomfort (6%)
- Pruritus (itching) (2%)
- Desquamation (peeling skin) (2%)
