Uses
Acivir Eye Ointment is used to treat eye infections caused by the herpes simplex virus, such as herpes simplex keratitis.
Dosage & Administration
- Typical Adult Dose: Apply a small amount (about 1 cm) to the affected eye 5 times a day, until 3 days after complete healing.
- Route of Administration: Topical application to the eye.
- Note: Avoid touching the tip of the tube to any surface, including the eye, to prevent contamination.
Side Effects
Common side effects:
- Stinging sensation upon application
- Mild irritation
- Temporary blurred vision
Rare but serious side effects:
- Allergic reactions
- Eye redness or swelling
If you experience serious side effects, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.
Precautions
