Indications:
- Herpes Zoster (Shingles)
- Genital Herpes (initial and recurrent episodes)
- Herpes Simplex (skin and mucous membrane infections)
- Chickenpox (Varicella) in immunocompromised patients
- Prophylaxis in immunosuppressed individuals
Mechanism of Action:
Acyclovir interferes with viral DNA synthesis by inhibiting viral DNA polymerase. This stops the virus from multiplying, helping the body’s immune system control the infection.
Dosage:

Adults: Typically 800 mg 5 times daily for 7–10 days (for Herpes Zoster), or as prescribed by a physician.
