Description
ACITOP-40MG is a prescription medication that contains Pantoprazole Sodium 40 mg, a potent proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach, offering relief from acid-related gastrointestinal disorders.
Indications:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
- Erosive Esophagitis
- Peptic Ulcer Disease
- Acid-related dyspepsia
Mechanism of Action:
Pantoprazole selectively blocks the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the surface of the gastric parietal cells, inhibiting the final step in gastric acid production. This results in a significant and long-lasting reduction in stomach acid.
Dosage:
- Usual Adult Dose: 1 tablet (40 mg) once daily, preferably before meals or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Note: Long-term use may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency or hypomagnesemia. Always use under medical supervision.
