How It Works:
Escitalopram increases the availability of serotonin, a natural chemical in the brain that helps regulate mood, sleep, and emotion. It does this by selectively inhibiting serotonin reuptake, allowing more serotonin to remain active in the brain synapses, which improves mood and reduces anxiety over time.
Dosage:
- Common starting dose: 10 mg once daily
- May be adjusted to 5–20 mg/day, depending on response and tolerance
